FORCE MOTORS | CAD DATA MIGRATION

"I converted legacy 2D powertrain drawings into modern 3D CAD models, helping Force Motors transition their engineering documentation to a digital-first workflow."

My Journey

1

The Legacy Drawing Challenge

Force Motors has decades of engineering history locked in paper drawings and 2D CAD files. These drawings contain critical design intent — tolerances, surface finishes, assembly notes — that needs to be preserved in 3D models. My job was to carefully interpret these drawings and recreate the parts in CATIA V5, ensuring nothing was lost in translation.

Learning GD&T the Hard Way

You don't truly understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing until you've had to recreate a complex part from a 30-year-old drawing. Every datum reference, every tolerance callout tells a story about how the part is manufactured and inspected. This project gave me a deep appreciation for the language of engineering drawings.
